What is the difference between a hub and a workspace?

The hub is the area, such as Finance, People or Sales, with instructions, documents, a team and a default target. The workspace is a project or process inside the hub, such as the month-end close, and starts by inheriting its instructions. Every workspace belongs to a hub.

Who sees what is inside a hub?

In a private hub, only the owner and the invited people or groups. In a public one, the whole organization sees and opens the documents, but editing, uploading files and managing members stay with the invited. In a private hub or a workspace, an explicit block denies access to a specific person.

If I invite a group, does whoever joins the group later already have access?

When you add a group, all its current members join with the chosen role, and removing the group removes that access. Anyone who joins the group later is not included automatically: add the group again or invite the person.

What happens when someone leaves a workspace or a hub?

They stop seeing that place's documents and conversations; leaving the workspace applies even if they stay in the hub. In a public hub, reading stays open to the whole organization; to restrict it, make the hub private. The hub owner is never left out.

Create the hub
The manager creates the Finance hub with name, icon, description and instructions. If she prefers, she answers three questions and Skyller drafts it.

Decide who gets in
Private, only with whoever she invites, or public, readable by the whole organization. People or groups join as owner, editor or viewer.

Open workspaces
Inside the hub, one workspace per process, such as “September closing”. It inherits the hub's instructions and, with inheritance on, the team.

Add knowledge and a target
The analyst publishes the procedure in the documents tab, with the usual review, and the agent that answers there by default is set.

The team asks in the workspace. Skyller reads the place's instructions and searches the published documents of the company, the hub, the workspace and the person's own.
